UCC-APC Annual Hetman Awards

About the Awards

In 1998, the UCC-Alberta Provincial Council initiated the Annual Hetman Awards to acknowledge significant volunteer achievements of outstanding Ukrainian Albertans. The Annual Hetman Awards celebrate all volunteers who have chosen to give their time, effort, and expertise to keep our Ukrainian Canadian community strong, vibrant, and active. In 2020, a new recognition category – the Professional Achievement Award – was added, acknowledging the profound impact members make on Ukrainian issues.

The Hetman 2022 Recipients

The UCC-APC welcomes nominations from any organization or group in Alberta. The Hetman Award selection committee, composed of past award recipients, ensures that every honoree is celebrated at the Annual Hetman Awards Gala. (Note: Sitting presidents of UCC-APC board member organizations are ineligible for nomination.)

“I was very honoured when I found out about this. Volunteerism and strengthening our Ukrainian Community is something I care deeply about — not for recognition, but for the good of our community and future generations. My parents and grandparents did the same for our community, and I owe it to them to continue this tradition.”
~ Christopher Gnyra, 2021 Hetman Award recipient
