Description: The legislature was built 1907 to 1913, largely by immigrant labour, much of it Ukrainian. A bronze sculpture entitled The Commitment by Edmonton sculptor Danek Możdżeński was unveiled here in 1991. Ukrainian politicians have been a part of Alberta's history since Andrew Shandro became the first "Ruthenian" (as was said then) M.L.A. in 1913. The first Ukrainian premier was Ed Stelmach from 2006 to 2011.
