DAY 17: After decades of Ukrainian Community concerns, in 1999 three groups finally arrived in unison to make a difference. Watch how the Taras Shevchenko Foundation with a 37-year history of Fund stewardship; and the Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Association (UCCLA), a community advocacy group on internment redress throughout the 1990’s and beyond and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) developed and executed a unified strategy to seek redress from the Federal Government. In 2008, the successful result of their efforts was the creation of a Fund that will leave a lasting influence in perpetuity honouring the legacy of the internees.

Après des décennies de préoccupations de la communauté ukrainienne, en 1999, trois groupes sont finalement arrivés à l’unisson pour faire la différence. Regardez comment la Fondation Taras Shevchenko, qui gère le Fonds depuis 37 ans, et l’Association ukrainienne canadienne des libertés civiles (UCCLA), un groupe de défense communautaire sur les recours en cas d’internement dans les années 1990 et au-delà, ainsi que le Congrès ukrainien canadien (UCC) ont élaboré et mis en œuvre une stratégie unifiée pour demander réparation au gouvernement fédéral. Інтернування 100. День 17. Офіційне визнання та реституція.

Після десятиліть перемовин в українській громаді, в 1999 році три групи нарешті прийшли до спільної згоди. Дивіться, як Фундація Тараса Шевченка із 37-річною історією управління фондом, Українсько-канадська асоціяція громадянських свобод (UCCLA), адвокаційна група із питань відшкодування інтернування, починаючи з 1990-х років, і Українсько-канадський конґрес (UCC) розробили та втілювали в життя єдину стратегію щодо отримання відшкодувань від федерального уряду. Нарешті, у 2008 році успішним результатом їхніх зусиль стало створення Фонду, який залишить глибокий слід в історії і матиме великий вплив на вшанування пам’яті інтернованих.
