DAY 7: “Impact on Descendants”

The memories of descendants of victims of the WWI internment operations are of invaluable historical significance. Today’s feature interviews are with Paul Wynnyk, Federal Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs and former Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, whose grandfather was registered as an enemy alien, and with Jerry Bayrak, whose mother and two prior generations were interned in the camp at Spirit Lake, Quebec (Bayrak interview conducted by Olena Goncharova, Canadian correspondent of the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post).

Les souvenirs des descendants des victimes des opérations d’internement de la Première Guerre mondiale sont d’une importance historique inestimable. Les interviews d’aujourd’hui sont celles du vice-ministre fédéral des affaires municipales Paul Wynnyk, ancien vice-chef d’état-major des forces armées canadiennes, dont le grand-père était enregistré comme étranger ennemi, et de Jerry Bayrak dont plusieurs générations de sa famille ont été internées dans le camp du lac Spirit, au Québec ( l’interview de Jerry Bayrak a été réalisée par Olena Goncharova, correspondante canadienne du journal ukrainien Kyiv Post. )
