This is a collaborative project with the Ukrainian Music Society of Alberta (UMSA) and the Alberta Ukrainian Media Association (AUMA) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Volodymyr Ivasiuk’s death and what would have been his 70th birthday.
UMSA invites all Volodymyr Ivasiuk music enthusiasts (12 years old plus) to participate in a mass choir singing “Chervona Ruta” in City Room, City Hall. (Parking at own cost – City Hall Parkade, Library Parkade, Citadel Parkade, Edmonton City Centre East Parkade.) Intended participants MUST commit 2 hours on Sunday, October 6, 2019, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (please arrive prior to 1:00 PM so we may begin promptly).
Each participant MUST memorize the music and lyrics to “Chervona Ryta”. NO sheet music on October 6.
The session, beginning promptly at 1:00 PM, will include rehearsal, set-up, and filming 3 takes to provide a variety of audio and video footage.
By registering for this event, YOU AGREE TO BE FILMED by AUMA for the purpose of creating a clip which will be used on various social and broadcast media. This may include close-ups of individuals singing.
Each participant MUST wear an embroidered vyshyvanka – any lower clothing is acceptable (including jeans, skirts and leggings).
The World Premiere of “Ivasiuk Lives On!” will be at “Cafe Ivasiuk” on Friday, October 18. AUMA will also post the final version on various social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.).
Each participant MUST register with UMSA (info@umsacanada.com). Upon registration, music will be forwarded to the registered participant. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS: SEPTEMBER 20, 2019.
If you are not wishing to sing, we encourage you to participate by viewing this performance as an audience member. Please arrive at 2:00 PM.
