Canada may lift Ukrainian visa regulations

Date

It is possible that the Government of Canada may lift travel visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens this year, following a similar decision recently made by the EU. Members of the Liberal Party of Canada in Manitoba and Saskatchewan have proposed to enact legislation allowing Ukrainian nationals to visit Canada for a maximum of 90 days without requiring a visa. Ideally, according to a recent policy proposal publication, the legislation should go into effect before August 24, 2016, which marks the 25th anniversary of Ukrainian independence.

Earlier this year, a petition started by a Winnipeg resident and sponsored by Manitoban Conservative MP James Bezan calling for the loosening of Ukrainian visa requirements in Canada earned over 2400 signatures.
