Jazz Band from Ukraine: ShockolaD Fundraiser Concert

For the first time in Edmonton, one of the top Ukrainian bands will transport you to the atmosphere of a European jazz festival. Harmonizing folk music energy from different continents, cultures and eras—Ukrainian folk, American jazz, blues, modern electronica—all of this and more is ShockolaD. The band leaders, Igor Hnydyn (drummer, composer) and Anastasia Litvinyuk (pianist, composer), are both graduates and long-time faculty members of Lviv National Music Academy, MacEwan’s partner university. They are among the best Ukrainian musicians today. The Lviv band believes that music breaks boundaries and unites people and cultures around the world into one.
