Internment 100 – “A Final Tribute as well as Thanks and Acknowledgements”

Date

Internment 100

“A Final Tribute as well as Thanks and Acknowledgements”

Marking the 100th Anniversary of the official end of Canada’s First National Internment Operations (1914–1920), June 1–20, 2020.

#Internment100 #WW1 #CanadianHistory #Forgotten

This concludes the online educational campaign of the “Internment 100” project.  June 20, 2020, please join Canadians nationwide in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the official end of the First National Internment Operations of 1914–1920, during a live event that can be viewed on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress National at 11 a.m. ET (9 a.m. MT). It has been an honour to compile and produce “Internment 100” — a project dedicated to the memory of all Canadians who were unjustly interned in Canada during the First World War. We pay tribute to all the internees and their descendants and to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this historical injustice to the attention of Canadians and interested viewers abroad. The output of this project has enlightened not only those who followed the daily posts; it will remain as an educational source for anyone interested in learning about the internment operations over the coming years and for future generations.
