The Ukrainian Famine and Genocide (Holodomor) Memorial Day Act came into formce in ALberta on November 4, 2008, recognizing the 1932-33 Famine and gonocide of the Ukrainian people and instituting a memorial day on the fourth Saturday in November to mark the tragedy each year.
A ceremony commemorating Holodomor will be held at the Alberta Legislature on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 12:00 noon. This event will honour the legislation and mourn the lives lost.
A children’s choir from the Ukrainian Bilingual program will be performing. Special guest speaker: Dr. Wolodymyr Zarycky, Centre for U.S. – Ukraine Relations – New York.
