Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts presents "Five Waves of Inspiration" Curators Tour

 The Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts (ACUA) is proud to present Five Waves of Inspiration at the Art Gallery of Alberta (2 Sir Winston Churchill Square) May 3 – 28, 2017. This special community exhibition celebrates 125 years of Ukrainian immigration to Canada and the influence the five distinct waves of immigration have had on the arts community in Alberta. Opening reception Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 6:30pm.

The richness of Ukrainian-Canadian visual art is being represented by pieces from the collections of the Ukrainian Canadian Archives and Museum of Alberta, Ukrainian Museum of Canada – Alberta Branch, Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives, Basilian Fathers Museum, Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada Museum, Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, Shevchenko Foundation, and Ukrainian Shumka Dancers.

Featured Artists: Julian Bucmaniuk, Tammy Chmilar, Ann Cymbalisty, Wadym Dobrolige, Ihor Dmytruk, William Duma, Hryhorii Grekul, Theodora Harasymiw, Erin Haugen, Parasia Iwanec, Iryna Karpenko, Lawrence Kenakin, Halyna Koszarycz, Dominika Koziak, Chester Kuc, William Kurelek, Isabel Levesque, Peter Lipinski, Thelma Manarey, Stephan Melnychenko, Sophia Morrison, Oksana Movchan, Nick Ochotta, Larissa Pohoreski, Maria Prokopiw, Larisa Sembaliuk Cheladyn, Valeriy Semenko, Peter Shostak, Sofia Warring and Adriana Warring.
